MINOR SPOILERS

Okay, a lot of you wanted to see the whole costume, so here's some shitty bathroom pics spliced together in a presentable way to show all the details and angles, etc. I'll upload artsy shots once I have the photoshoot with my talented friend Nicole.

Scar picture is now flipped to the right side, had a couple people ream me out on Tumblr for having it Ember Island style (in my defense, I'm doing the scar makeup again this weekend, and putting rigid collodion in the same area of your face twice in a couple days is bad). Yes, I know it needs to be ironed, it was 5 am, I didn't quite feel up to it lol.

Mask is made of Rigid Wrap, paperclay, and gesso and acrylic. Some of the process is covered here [link]

Kneepads and shoulder pads are made of darted Wonderflex, pleather, and brown leather. The outfit is made of cotton sateen (black), and hand-dyed twill (was originally a lighter gray, I gave it a quick black dye bath).

The makeup actually keeps the corner of my mouth open! It's a material called rigid collodion, and what it does is shrink and stretch your skin taut. If you grimace or hold a yelling face until it dries, it will dry with the corner of your mouth slightly open. Then it was attacked with latex and the bruise/wound color wheels from Ben Nye.

If you have questions about the cosplay, please check my Tumblr for Asks, a few I have answered cover construction: [link] If you still have questions, please note me. I do not do commissions.

Yes, there will be copies of my mask available through my friend this fall, he will be making a mold of my mask and casting it. I will update my DA journal with pricing and how to order once I get the info.

Anybody that actually bothers to read this long description, I'm sorry for how long it is!

How much does all of the materials combined cost? And how long would it take me to make and is it easy? Also is there another way to make the kneepads and shoulder pads? I am new at this and not sure what all you are explaining sorry. Thanks!

Combined materials I'd gauge at $300, it took me a month and no it isn't easy, especially for a beginner. And I don't know another way to make the armor, you could try foamies, I've seen some success for that.

How'd you do it is a pretty general question, I covered as much as I could in my description. If you have specific questions pertaining to anything, I can elaborate. It took me a month.

I have a question, how many yards of fabric did you buy to make the costume(tunic/hood). I bought about 3 yards, and I'm not sure if thats too much, or too little :S

:iconblackkrogoth:
BlackKrogoth Featured By Owner Jan 15, 2013  Professional Interface Designer
Three yards should just enough, though I don't know how tall you are. I'm actually a little wide (at the hips) so I went with 4 (to include the hood), but if you're careful, 3 should be fine!

This cosplay looks great! Could you give me the process you did to make the gauntlets, boots and shoulder pads?

The shoulder and knee pads are wonderflex that have been patterned (mocked up from paper, with darts to give it the cavernous shape) and then I sprayed adhesive over it and pulled red pleather over it. Then the sections of brown is leather that have been glued on. The shoulders are attached with three snaps, the knee pads with strips of leather attached to the boot covers.

Boot covers is one piece, I based the pattern on my knee high boots so there's a seam in the back and the bottom attaches under the sole with a snap. The belts and buttons are just sewn straight on. The gauntlets are the same, except I made it two pattern pieces and it sort of bowls out at the bottom so it doesn't look like a cone. The red strips are just cut out and glued on both boots and gauntlets. I hope that helps!

Hey, just wanna start off by saying that this is quite possibly my favourite cosplay I'v seen yet, awesome job!
I'm a huge fan of cosplay but I'v never had the time or to be honest the drive to attempt making my own costume, I'm keen to change that. I really want to make an Amon costume for the next up and coming cosplay event but i'm a bit iffy as to how achievable that is for an absolute beginner such as myself. I'm more then happy to try and will be able to afford it time and money wise but I was curious as to how difficult creating something of that caliber is. If it's easier i'm open to obtaining pieces then altering them but as far as the armor, mask and accessories go, I was wondering if you had any tips.
Anything you could tell me would be hugely appreciated coming from an experienced cosplayer such as yourself.
Thanks if you can help, and if not thanks all the same :)

Well we all start somewhere, right? I would say this is about medium difficulty, you need to learn how to make your own pattern, and the mask requires a bit of sculpting but there's a lot of people who now sell copies. The armor requires some more advance pattern making, but nothing a lot of experimentation with paper won't accomplish!

If you want to be accurate, you gotta make everything from scratch, absolutely! I would start one thing at a time. Learn to sew first, basic things, then get more comfortable building a piece from your own drawn pattern pieces. Then you can move on to the armor and gauntlets, which are far harder. You can also buy patterns and alter them, I would definitely recommend that for the hood, it took me so many tries to get it right and even then it doesn't fit perfect.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help!

Best Amon cosplay, hands down. It looks very realistic from the scar down to the way the clothes fall on you!

This is a very good costume. I was thinking about trying to dress as Amon for halloween, but I don't look anything like him so the scar makeup would be pointless for me, and I'm not sure if I have what I need to make the costume. However, I'm interested to know how you made/acquired that costume.

I don't look anything like Amon either, that's why I wear a mask :). Or make mostly masked cosplay, don't need to worry if I look like someone or not, just do it!

Do you have specific questions about construction? I made the whole thing from scratch, I would consider it an intermediate project if you know how to sew already.

Sadly I don't. I don't have much experience making costumes. I still haven't made the last one I wanted to do. Your costume is really impressive though. Congratulations. How did you make the mask?
