Hey its the Abby Shots outfit, nice! I was thinking of buying one but WAYYY too expensive. I am also making the marluxia scythe to cosplay as at the next Otakon, except i'm making the blade out of Styrofoam.
Accutally they are suprisingly durable, I made both of Xigbar's guns using nothing but strofoam and plastic. And they are still fine even though they have been through all kinds of abuse, you can see them once I get thier pics up.
But Xigbar's guns are small and compact. Marluxia's scythe, even proportioned to me, who is short, still is ended up being super fragile. My first one was foam, and that didn't work out at all given its slender shape, and the one I posted is wood, and it broke.
How did it break? Just to much use? Or was it made in a fragile sense? The reason Im asking is because Im planning on being Marluxia for Otakon and if the scythe doesnt work out then Im going to make Lexaeus's Tomohawk and be him (since most people would rather not be him so it would be new)
Fragile, mostly because of how it's designed. There's absolutely no support for the weapon and unless it was either hard plastic or metal, there is no way for it to be durable. The point of stress is where the staff and the blade are connected to the "star."
