- the winter caretaker - by BlackKrogoth - the winter caretaker - by BlackKrogoth
This was the holiday card I sent to my friends. Unfortunately, given the insane amount of time this took, the insane amount of work I had to do, and the insane SHORTAGE of time I had, they didn't get a finished version. Not to mention, the printer BASTARDIZED my detail, so ARGH. So here is what it was meant to be. It's supposed to (as usual of me) have more detail, but I decided my piece of shit computer couldn't take anymore of it (it takes fifteen minutes to save @_@).

Anyway, done entirely in Photoshop (again). I've learned to use the pen tool more effectively to create the inked outline (yes, the outline is PEN TOOL'D), so yay. And it was hard to get different enough blues to differentiate between the different things >_<.

Anyway, hope you guys like. Sorry to my friends who all got the unfinished piece ;_;.

Aw. <3 I like it. Great textures on the tree/wing design. Love the ice, too. Your textures are so freakin cool!

*pets* printers always do evil things to... everything.

Oh but I love this so! I love the way you've placed him within a circle, and then had parts of the composition break the circle (rather than leave it static and completely encircled). And I love that odd flower added in there... so pretty... as are the little decorative details. You're just.. insane for the detail you throw in your pieces, seriously.

I know! I don't think I've ever been satisfied with any print or even a scan of my art. Thanks so much for your kind words! I hope life is treating you well!

WOW, that's really good. I love how you use all the different patterns! and the detialed shot show how much effort was put into it! As far as inking in PS was the pen tool always the same size? Anyway, :+fav: !!!!!

No, pen tool is entirely shape-based. That means a regular straight horizontal line would be four clicks of the pen tool. It's not time-saving AT ALL but it gives you a high level of precision.

Blah, after 13 hour work day I tend to babble.

I have some art ideas but cosplay and work is taking all my free time.

Yeah, the colors are a lot more differentiated and brilliant on the computer than on the paper. But none the less, I am still impressed by both versions. It's gorgeous.

I hate how things look better on the computer. Or I need a better printer supply XD.

Nah, I always like how my photos look on the computer better too. I have to get a good printer and calibrate it perfectly to my color schemes one day. That's so annoying. It's also because computers are backlit and give pictures that extra color vibrancy and glow.

I had no idea you did this all on PS, you must have the steadiest hands in the world! I can never get my lines to look so smooth inked on the compy....maybe I just suck tho! XD

Oh no, my hands are shakey and bad and are probably gonna go in the next few years XD. The reason my outline is smooth is because I used the pen tool. Point-based = very, very precise.

That's neat. I like the pattern in the tree the best. Did you draw it yourself or get it from someplace?
I also like the glowy orb and the arrowhead type thing hanging above. Awesome picture in so many respects.
